Farewell to Sarah Buckleitner
In April, OCHS bid farewell to Outreach Coordinator Sarah Buckleitner. Sarah joined OCHS in the spring of 2017 and was tasked with helping to find homes for shelter pets through a variety of strategies – social media outreach, news media exposure, community events, and recruiting foster families.
Hailing most recently from Minnesota, Sarah is headed to Athens, Georgia, where she and her husband Jordan are relocating with their two dogs and two cats for Jordan’s Ph.D. program. Sarah joins the University of Georgia Housing Department as a Public Relations Specialist.
OCHS board president Rick Welch said, “I thoroughly enjoyed learning from and working with Sarah in this position as she grew our outreach program to new levels. Sarah has a gift for both writing and photography and will succeed in any endeavor.”
Sarah said her favorite aspect of the Outreach Coordinator job was that she got to play with shelter pets and make their lives better. She also enjoyed the freedom of the position which afforded her the opportunity to develop her photography and graphic design skills.
During her time with us, Sarah fostered eleven animals for OCHS, including one “foster failure” – she adopted her foster kitten Noxubee!
General Manager Christy Crenshaw added, “Sarah was a great addition to our organization! Thanks to her, we have a thriving foster program and vastly increased social media presence. We are very sad to see her go!”
We will miss Sarah and her family, and wish them the very best!
